Yesterday, POCO Global shared an initial teaser image of the upcoming POCO F5 series , and now the launch date has been officially confirmed. The POCO F5 and F5 Pro will be unveiled on May 9th, as per POCO Global’s Twitter account. While we already knew about the existence of these two devices from previous leaks, the latest post confirms their release as part of the POCO F5 series.

As a classic POCO trait, both phones are expected to come with a powerful processor and display, but with a mid-level camera setup. The global launch event for the POCO F5 series will take place on May 9th at 20:00 GMT+8, and the POCO F5 will be launched in India on the same day at 5:30 PM.

It’s worth noting that the POCO F5 Pro will not be available in India, but this is not a significant issue since the differences between the two models are not substantial. Both devices are equipped with Snapdragon’s flagship chipset, with the POCO F5 featuring the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 and the POCO F5 Pro boasting the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. In our previous article, we revealed that both models have almost identical performance based on their Geekbench scores, indicating a comparable level of performance between both devices.

Apart from the chipset difference, the most significant disparities between the two models are the display and battery capacity, with both phones supporting 67W fast charging. It’s important to note that POCO F5 is essentially the global version of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, which is only available in China. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is one of the most affordable phones with 1 TB storage and 16 GB RAM, with the 1TB variant priced at approximately USD 406.

It’s unclear whether there will be a 1TB variant of the POCO F5 series globally, but we can be confident that the devices will come at an affordable price point while providing flagship performance features. The POCO brand has always been known for offering high-value devices at reasonable prices, and the POCO F5 series is likely to continue that trend.
